In the retail world, my clock runs a little bit differently than perhaps yours does. As I have explained in past blogs, in the middle of winter, I am buying for summer. In the dead heat of summer, I am in Christmas mode. You are no doubt made aware of this phenomenon when you see Valentine’s Day candy in the stores on December 26th and Christmas decorations up in stores before we even buy our Halloween pumpkins. I hope I am not guilty of that (too often) but I am always planning months and months ahead.
On the other hand, I love that I am able to go pickin’ for LTD 7, like I did last week, and shop for items that have year-round appeal. It removes me from the wholesale-retail market for a bit and allows me to shop more freely. I hope you have had a chance to come into LTD 7 to see the new merchandise. If you missed it, rest assured I have a number of these trips planned and I usually announce new items on Facebook and Instagram. Sign up and check our page frequently to avoid missing anything. Last week our Facebook sale was not entirely “fed” to you due to some unknown algorithm that Facebook has…BUT, you can always get our sales LIVE by going directly to our page.
GOTTA LOVE A SALE!
One of the other things retailers do is look for opportunities for sales. I love the idea of rain as I can put rain boots on sale. I get giddy when I am ready to de clutter and do inventory in January as we can offer you Clearance Prices! And then, of course, there are the upcoming calendar holidays…Valentine’s Day (stay tuned for these LOVE-ly sales) and Spring sales and Mother’s Day…you get the picture. I love a good sale and I am always looking for an excuse to have one.
It used to be that Superbowl Sunday, Febuary 5th this year, was a premium time to offer women huge sales as retailers knew that most women would not want to stay home and watch the game. All that has changed. Football has become a family sport and over the last few years, retailers have seen a decline in sales on this day.
I am okay with this turnabout. I am all about “Family First, Business Second.” Anything that brings the family together around food and celebration is a good thing in my book. Of course, LTD 7 will be open Super Bowl Sunday, and we would love to see you, but we certainly understand if you are not going to make it in on Sunday, Feb 5th.
BUT…WHY NOT BOTH?
You certainly could make it in to the store and then watch the game…~ tee hee~ Why not have our cake and eat it too. Like the little girl says in the photo, “Why not both?” Maybe you agree: shop a little and then enjoy the game.
Perhaps you prepare football treats for your family, your husband and male relatives. Maybe you do a craft at the kitchen table and are close by while the game broadcasts. Perhaps you catch up in your journal or your photo albums or spend time surfing the Internet while the game plays out. Maybe you just enjoy the halftime show or the commercials and only tune your eyes and ears to these portions of the game. In any event, you are home and hopefully surrounded by friends and family.
SIMPLE SNACKS AND CRAFTS
Here are a few quick and easy snacks you might want to nibble on and crafts to work on before the television is turned on, on Super Bowl Sunday.
Don’t forget our former vendor now has a store, FANZONE, in Waynesboro, VA. Although they specialize in collegiate and Highschool fangeatr at this time…..I know there will be some great generic items you can use to cheer your team on. Let’s show them some love during our preparations for Super Bowl Sunday. email@example.com
“FanZone is a dream come true for us! Two lifelong sports fanatics ourselves, we started FanZone in a small corner of LTD7 in Downtown Staunton in 2013. With a burst of initial success with local sports fans and support from Lynne Breeden, the owner of LTD7, we decided to venture out on our own, opening the new FanZone location in Waynesboro just before the start of the 2014 football season.”
Keep kickin’ it, ladies, by doing what you love to do, whether it’s football or shopping…or both!
I will see you at LTD 7 very soon!
