I am not a movie critic and I rarely have time to go to the theatre these days, so this blog will not be a critique about the latest reel to hit the stage. In fact, if I had the time and the option to see “Fifty Shades of Grey,” I not sure I would…But that’s just me.
I have not read the trilogy; I have not seen the movie and I had no idea until today that there was a soundtrack to go along with the movie. But I can tell you this: I think…no, I know…that Fifty Shades of Grey is NOT about the color grey. But, it’s my job to be up on trends. It’s my calling to perform miracles with color and space. So, with that said, today’s post IS about fifty shades of grey…thereabouts.
I used to think I couldn’t do much, personally, with the color grey. I wasn’t keen on wearing it as I thought it washed me out. I was a child of the “warm season,” and my wardrobe had more warm browns and teals and greens than it had grey. I once assisted my sister in decorating her home in California, which had in it light grey carpet and grey tile and truth be told, it was difficult.
Opening LTD 7 has changed all that.
I now have a deeper fondness for the color grey. Perhaps it is because I never appreciated all of the wonderful nuisances that grey holds until I saw the color continually cropping up in vintage wood and sterling jewelry and deep, rich, warm, woolen sweaters, blankets, boot socks and slippers. I am a fan of grey now and I invite you to browse the pictures in this blog and reintroduce yourself to a color you might have once thought a dull and boring shade.
Light grey on a wall is delightful, as are variations of the color grey, mixed with taupe in a bedroom. Think about vintage grey sneakers, a picture frame matting in grey, grey mixed with pallet wood or grey springs.
What about a grey pinstripe suit on your favorite guy?
How about a gorgeous deep and dark grey evening gown or cocktail dress, vintage grey molly boots, a new grey truck?
And then there are grey knee highs, grey riding boots, grey flats, grey flower boxes, grey tool boxes, grey photographs, grey clouds in a frame, grey shutters or a necklace with your initials.
Ahhhh…grey—grey—grey. Fifty shades of delightful grey!
See? Once we open our minds to the color grey, the possibilities are endless! Stop in LTD 7 and check out the color grey. I will bet you will be surprised at all the glamorous grey you didn’t think was in there.
Here’s to a grey day that turns sunny; a grey mood that lifts and one or two or three shades of grey in your home and in your wardrobe.
Have a GREY-T week, everyone!
