Christmas has come and gone, and now the New Year is creeping up on us. Ring in the new year with those who are closest to you, by following LTD 7’s guide for an easy last minute New Year’s Eve party.
When it comes to New Year’s Eve parties, a last minute party is still easily doable. First, send out invitations or invites so you can prepare for the crowd. Even if it’s a small party, invitations are a personal way of inviting someone, and making them feel welcomed to your party.
As far as the décor of your party, keep everything simple and easy by keeping to a color theme. Gold and silver are festive colors to help ring in the New Year, and if you’re planning on making your own banners use phrases like “2016” or “Happy New Year.” Another simple decoration for your party is balloons. They’re an inexpensive way to decorate a large area without having to do much work.
Most New Year’s Eve parties are a mixture of cocktails and dining. I love this simple new year clock dining theme:
If you are planning a cocktail hour, give the drinking glasses a festive twist by using sugar around the rim of the glass. It’s a simple technique that will add a little sparkle to your drinks. Buy some cardboard letters and add glitter.
As far as desserts, don’t feel like you have to spend a lot of time or effort. Cupcakes or cakes are a simple and easy dessert that you can dress up anyway you want. For your New Year’s party, why not be festive and use sparklers on top of your cupcakes?
No New Year’s Eve party is complete without hats and noisemakers; keep plenty of them on hand for the big countdown. Pop a balloon each hour.
You can even give the kids “bubble wrap” leftover from packages to pop when the clock strikes midnight or make these simple push up poppers.
Before the big countdown, pass around flutes of champagne to the adults. For those aren’t drinking or can’t drink, pass around the “Bubbly” Bubbles, and once the clock strikes midnight everyone can open their bubbles to celebrate.
Unlike Thanksgiving and Christmas, New Year’s Eve parties are a lot easier to plan last minute.
