Happy Father’s Day

Every once in a while a girl gets really lucky and she gets a whole lotta good! I have been just such a girl and not a moment goes by that I don’t know it! I have been blessed with one Dad, and more about him later, but I have also been blessed to know three other Dads who spin my world on its axis! Over my lifetime, four wonderful men have graced my world with such love and happiness and strength. To these four  men, and to all the other “good Daddies” and “grand pops” out there, I say, “Happy Father’s Day, with love.”

First there was my Dad. The dad of all Dads. The pillar of our family and the adventurer; the man who didn’t tell me how to live, but instead showed me, by being the sort of man that he was; the doctor and the sportsman; the one who never just let me win, but taught me the true meaning of a good score. The one who bandaged my broken limbs and kissed my forehead on my graduations, at my wedding and when I became a mom and Duane became a Dad.

And then there is another Dad in my life and he is my husband and the provider in our family. He is the man who works harder than anyone I know, and he is the loving man who has made me the happiest woman on Earth. He is “Daddy,” to our Erika.

He is the steady one, the thoughtful one and the one who seems to know just how to handle almost anything, before it even happens. To Duane, Happy Father’s Day with love.

Then there is my brother, Todd. I have watched him grow into a man, and then marry his childhood sweetheart, and become a dad to not one, but two, remarkable girls, who are now lovely young women. Todd is the clown, the prankster and the second hardest worker I know. He is also, like my Dad, and like Duane, one of the few, “best Dads around.”

And finally, may he rest in eternal peace, there is my Father-in Law, Arnold. Oh my gracious, I miss his smile so much! I miss his hugs, his sweet ways and I miss him for Duane. How we all loved Arnie. Thank you for giving me Duane. Happy Father’s Day, in Heaven, Paw Paw.

I am so blessed. I have four men in my life who exemplify what it is to be a Dad. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for loving me.

And to all of the Dads, the Father’s In Law, and to the Granddads and the Uncles, and Brothers too, Happy Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to all the for-whatever-reason-single Moms who must be Dads, too…Happy Father’s Day to you to. And last, to all the “about to be Dads” and the young men who will perhaps someday be Dads, Happy Father’s Day to you, too.

Living the Dream,

Lynne
