Let’s see it “Once Again”

Continuing with our Featured Vendor Series this week, I’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Snell, Owner of “Once Again” and our very own LTD 7 distributor for Paint Couture products.  Screen Shot 2016-08-14 at 3.27.12 PM ~ Aug-14
What I love most about Carolyn and her story is her hard working spirit, her faith and her great love of family. Take a look at how circumstances-being in the right place at the right time- played a role in her digging deeper into her passion. (Pictured below is Carolyn volunteering her time on a mission trip this year)

Screen Shot 2016-08-14 at 3.20.03 PM ~ Aug-14

Moreover, just like Mic of Mugshots Squared, last week’s featured artist, the funny thing about a passion and a dream, and the common thread, is that sometimes (most times) our passions and dreams follow us pretty much all of our lives. Conditions might not be ideal for a full time pursuit of our dream, but Carolyn is another wonderful example of the power of our passions and how the light inside us never dims, but instead compels us to be true to our heart’s passion and “live the dream.”

Let’s find out more. Below is Carolyn, in her own words. Enjoy her story!

Living the Dream,

 1. Even though you express yourself through your work, our readers would love to know more about you. Tell us where you are from, if you are married, any children, grandchildren.

I am from the Lyndhurst area. I am married and have two wonderful boys and two grandbabies, Jackson and Madelyn. My youngest son will be married next year and then I will have two more grandchildren, Chloe and Ayden.

  1. What is your special dream business and how did you get started in it? What’s your “story?”

Ever since I took a class in high school, I have enjoyed “refurbishing” furniture in one way or another. I was introduced to painting furniture when I took a class entitled “Paint Your Own Piece.” Then, about two years ago, I met Lynne when my son and his girlfriend took a class with her, using Paint Couture.

  1. This is not a full time job for you. Do you think some day it will be? Why or why not?

I hope that someday my business will be at a level where it would be my only job. I have just taken a BIG leap of faith and will be switching to part-time in my 30 year career as a licensed optician to care for my mother more and allow me more time to chase my dream make it a full time reality.

  1. You are the distributor for Paint Couture. What makes this paint special to you? Won’t just any furniture paint do? Why or why not?

I love Paint Couture because of the diverse finishes that can be achieved. It is a very beautiful paint that, once dry, is extremely durable. I like the fact that it is a “system of products” designed to work together to achieve the finish you desire. You can go “primitive,” “elegant,” or “shabby chic.” I also like the fact that you don’t have to strip off the previous finish. All you have to do is clean it well and then you can begin!

  1. What would you most like to get your hands on for renovation/painting?

I think right now I would love to transform an entire kitchen-cabinets and walls!

  1. What is the biggest obstacle/hurdle you have to pursuing this special dream of yours full time?

Money and Time!

  1. Where does your inspiration come from?

Paint Couture has a Distributor Page and I get a lot of ideas and inspiration from there. I also get ideas and inspiration from my favorite magazine, Southern Living.

  1. What advice would you like to share with dreamers like you? What one piece of wisdom or lesson that you learned would you say pushed you the furthest in this dream?

I would say: Never Give Up! I am still not there yet, but I am closer than when I started. There has been so much to learn, but in two years, I feel I have come a long way.

What has pushed me the furthest is my belief that God gave me the dream and He opened the door for me when I met Lynne at LTD 7. My faith assures me that God will be alongside me to guide and direst my path. With Him, all things are possible!

Brown Sugar and Cinnamon

fall 12

Are you ready for Fall? I think I am! I have pallets upon pallets of new merchandise just waiting to be put out on the sales floor and I am receiving new merchandise daily. That can only mean one thing: we are headed into autumn.

fall 3

I announced on Facebook that LTD 7 will be hosting our third Fall Market this year.

The date for our Annual Outdoor Market is Saturday, October 17th, 2015 from 10am to 4 pm. Please put this date on your calendar.

fall 3fall 4

We are accepting Vendors now for the Market. Email ltdseven@icloud.com with any interest! Let us know what you are all about and send us pictures too. We look forward to meeting you or reconnecting with you! Please keep in mind, we do not accept any “direct sell” companies as vendors. This is a vintage market with art, antiques, quality handmade, repurposed, furniture, and jewelry. Thank you for your understanding.

fall 6

In addition to ten outdoor visiting vendors, LTD 7 will also bring you all of our amazing contracted vendors, along with music, food, and fun for all.

fall 5

During our markets we love to help out our community! This year we will be asking for suggestions and accepting applications for a charity that will directly benefit from our sales. 10% of all sales inside LTD 7 will go to this organization. We will also have donation jars and “Round up your purchase total” and this money will go to them as well. In advance, we thank you for giving generously.

Not only are we going to have great vendors, food, music and activities but Inside LTD 7 you will also find your favorite year round vendors.
Terry Watson – Photography, Wendi True-Photography, Pet gifts, PooPourri and more, Bridget of Gone Loopy and her wonderful silver creations, Carolyn of Once Again and Paint Couture, along with all of LTD 7’s merchandise. With every purchase, you can “Spin the Wheel” to see what you can win or how much discount you get off your purchase! Enter our drawings for great gifts from our vendors, and special sales throughout the store! Also be on the lookout for many contests and ways to win vouchers for the Market as the date draws near.

Send us your email for an application to be an exhibitor, musician or the non-profit recipient of 10% of profits! Please pass this on if you know of anyone that would be a perfect fit! Thank you in advance!

fall 11

While it is hard to say goodbye to summer, we hope LTD 7 can brighten up the Fall with brand new merchandise and our Fall Market, in addition to our classes and second store. Have you visited us at our second location yet? Everyone has been so kind with their welcome and comments. If you haven’t been, make sure to stop by and check us out.

I will see you soon. I am in and out of both stores all day. If you have questions or need to talk to me, please email me at: ltdseven@icloud.com and I will get back to you. Remember, October 17th is our Fall Market. Put it on your calendar now so you won’t miss it.

Dream a little dream as autumn nears. I will see you soon.

Living the Dream,

Where’s Waldo: Were You Spotted?

The Market is over (sad face). I love these Markets and seeing all of you! Did you brave the cold and rain to visit? It was, despite Mother Nature, a totally great day and I have so many to thank for making LTD 7’s Spring Market a fun event for all of us. Thank you for coming and supporting a great cause!

Last night, two of my favorite people, who shall remain nameless parents, shared their pictures of the Market with me. I love getting pictures from others, showcasing our customers, some of the booths and the great turnout. You see things I don’t and I love your shares.

I do believe that I love the social aspect of this Market as much as I do the booths and the sales and the support you bring to downtown Staunton.

I also have an Album of Photographs on LTD 7’s Facebook page that you can visit, after looking at these snapshots to see more of the great times that we had yesterday. I will post the link at the bottom of the blog.

Did we catch you having fun? Check out all of our photos to see if my we spotted YOU!

Living the Dream,

I Do! I Do!

image (19)

This day I will marry my friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love.

Who doesn’t absolutely love a wedding? Whether you are about to take the plunge or know someone who is getting married, a wedding is a joyous affair and an event everyone loves to attend. Weddings bring out the love in all of us and remind us that love is what makes the world go ‘round.

image (5)

We at LTD 7 are in the business of weddings and with our most recent expansion into the space upstairs we have dedicated a space for brides and moms of brides and grandmoms of brides and bridesmaids and brides to meet with us to design a vintage, chic wedding…something that is all the rage this year.

image (21)

We get a number of calls from people inquiring into what exactly it is we offer and so today I thought I would write an FAQ, or frequently asked questions blog to fill everyone in. If you know someone who is planning a wedding, you might forward them this link. You might even want to bookmark it for a future time.

image (2)

In any event, make sure you scroll through the beautiful photos that I have on here. All of the pictures are things we can do for you and anything else you can dream of!

I have heard that LTD 7 does weddings. What exactly do you do?

image (11)

LTD 7 has a team developed that can do as little or as much as you want and will work with you throughout the planning stages all the way up to the big day.

What kind of weddings do you do at LTD7?

image (10) image (14) image (9)

We have a passion at LTD 7 for Pinterest inspired rustic weddings in outdoor or indoor venues. If you are thinking of boho chic, vintage or rustic themes, please give us a call and schedule an appointment with Meghan.

There are so many items I see in LTD 7 that I would love to use, but I cannot afford to buy them.

image (19)image (55)

That is exactly why LTD 7 got into the business of wedding rentals. We have had so many customers tell us the same thing! We have taken many of our items from the store and made them available as rentals to make your dream wedding a reality.

Our packages are easy, affordable and memorable. Many rental packages are available.

Do you offer delivery and set-up?

image (8)

Yes, we do offer deliver, set-up and take down, if chosen in your package.

What about flowers?

image (3)image (10)

LTD 7 can arrange fresh and artificial flowers for your special day, too. If you want seasonal flowers for your bouquets, boutoneers and the wedding décor, we will schedule an appointment with Jann, who will work with you, closely.

Do you provide food?

image (18)

We do not provide food, however we can refer you to great vendors for your food and wedding cake.

What about photography?

image (25)image (15)

Again, we do not provide this service, but are able to provide referrals.

Do we have to return the items we rented after the service, or do you pick them up?

image (17)

We will pick up our rentals items if you choose this service in one of our many packages. We can include clean up in your cost as well. Otherwise, the rental items are due back within a reasonable amount of time.

Do you have a price list?

image (20)

Meghan will provide a price list at your first appointment, which is free of charge. At the meeting we will discuss package costs, any discounts and also offer you individual rental costs if you only need a few items.

Do you offer a registration for the bride and groom?

image (23)

We have a great selection of wedding gifts for your home and bridal showers. We can put together a bridal registry for you if you so desire. We do not carry dishware or glasses or silverware.

Can I see some of the items you rent?

image (24)

Most of our items are large and designed more for decorating the wedding venue. I have provided pictures in this FAQ blog of just some of the things we can do. Again, a meeting with Meghan is the way to fulfill your dream wedding and see all that we offer.

How did a shopping boutique such as LTD 7 get started in the wedding business?

spring 8

We were asked so many times by brides if we rented or could let them borrow items we had in the store. Some brides were even purchasing these items so that they could use them on their big day. But then, after the service, they were at a loss as to what to do with them. We saw an opportunity to offer a service at a fair cost and cut down on the wedding costs at the same time—a win-win for everyone.

Please call us if you have any questions or want to schedule a meeting to design your ideal wedding rental package. ltd7rentingthelove@gmail.com (772) 226-0778

Living the Dream,

The Wheels on the Bus

This is the bus we are taking….hope you can go! (just kidding)

I just love LTD 7’s customers…every one of you. I was sitting in my office a few days ago and I had an idea. I wasn’t sure it would fly, so I tossed it out on Facebook for you to give me some feedback and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Thank you for always being a post away and for giving me your opinions and thoughts. It helps me tremendously to make LTD 7 “ours.”

For those of you who missed the post I am referring to, I thought that maybe—just maybe—a bus trip to Ohio this fall to shop the Country Living Fair would be SO much fun. LTD 7 would organize the trip…the transportation, the tickets, the hotel and a meal or two for all of us!  All you would have to do is show up! We would even arrange transportation for anything you purchase! Is that a fun idea or what?

I am still looking into the idea and working with some people to see if we can pull this off, so bear with me. If for some reason we can’t get a tour together this fall, we can always look into other venues and locations at a future date. If you want to be notified as we make progress and to all the details of the trip…please send your email to ltdseven@icloud.com

“Presented by Country Living Magazine, the event offers visitors the opportunity to fully experience the “Country Living” lifestyle and meet the editors of Country Living in a charming 19th century village setting. A great big show and sale of antiques, vintage, “Made in America” crafts, art, furniture, home decor, handcrafted clothing and jewelry and so much more. Meet the editors of Country Living Magazine and their guests, attend seminars and how-to’s, see artisan demonstrations, shop the Harvest & Gourmet Market, and gather ideas and inspiration.”

You’re going right?

There are great shopping options, with over 200 booths of antiques, vintage, upcycled and hand-crafted goods. Additional features include Country Living’s kitchen and main stages with cooking demos, and presentations by the editors and their guests. Plus, book signings and crafting and how-to demonstrations throughout the fair.

Live Music will be performed by the Blue Water Ramblers and Thomas Wesley Stern.

Let me know in the comments what you think. I do think I have enough interest to at least bring you more information and at this point, the pickins’ look very good indeed! Check out the list of vendors I have included below the blog post! Mind you—you are going to have to scroll a looooong time to get to the bottom of this awesome list!  What do you say we start planning and dreaming and working on the details to make LTD 7’s best shopping tour of 2015 a reality? I sense a tradition in the making…don’t you?

I will keep you posted! Thanks for checking in and for always sharing your thoughts with me! I couldn’t do all this dreaming without you!

Don’t forget to scroll through the vendor list and have a stupendous week! Stop in soon! The coffee is on us!

A Vintage Thanksgiving

What did you do with your extra hour today? Did you enjoy sleeping in? Did you find a little quiet time?

 image (20)

One Whole Hour!

What did you do with your extra hour today? Did you enjoy sleeping in? Did you find a little quiet time? I got to spend a little extra time with Duane and I had an extra serving of warm coffee. It was way too nice.

The Weather Outside is Frightful!

Boy we sure did pick the right date for the Fall Market, didn’t we? I always get a little nervous with our “early winters” and seemingly topsy-turvy weather. I hope you had a chance to come and enjoy the day and the festivities. It was wonderful seeing so many of you, even though I was running around like a mad woman with my hair on fire most of the time. I still managed to thoroughly enjoy the day and I want to thank our visiting vendors, the amazing staff at LTD 7, our food truck, musicians and my dad and brother for the vintage cars. We made some money for a cause near and dear to my heart and everyone I spoke with had a blast. That’s what counts!

Don’t forget, when it rains, check our Facebook page for rainy day specials! We typically feature rain boots.

Is It Too Soon for a Holiday Blog?

image (12)

I had some friends comment on Facebook about Costco’s really very extra special early Christmas decorations, and that was weeks and weeks ago. Too soon, for most of you, and I have to agree, but…I have to share a secret…many of us in retail have our holiday items ordered in Januray and ready as early as July , so we get a little antsy as soon as Fall hits. Bear with us. We love the holiday season and sometimes it is hard to hold back. I have tried to be as patient as possible and I am not going to blog about the season—yet. But I am working on a post that I think you will like. I will share it in the weeks ahead.

What Can’t Wait!

image (11)

I just have to tell you about two great events I am working on so that you can at least add them to your calendar. On November 14, 2014, we are having our annual Sparkles and Sweets event. It was so much fun last year!  The event will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday, November 14, 2014. I am fast at work on that endearing event, and once again, would absolutely love to see you. You will find our store decorated and full of everything you might need for gift-giving, guest vendors, demos, many great discounts and the ever popular drawing for our MONEY TREE!

Please mark your calendars for an evening of fun in the downtown area on November 14th.

image (10)

And, we all know what Thanksgiving means…in retail…it means the official start to the shopping season. I know…I know…the Halloween decorations are still up. But this ear Thanksgiving falls later than usual so we have to be ready! Please plan to come see us on November 29th for Small Business Saturday. There will be great sales and a day that honors all of us working in small, local businesses. I am sure many of you are going to be shopping on Black Friday (and I don’t blame you)…but don’t forget about us on Saturday, our fabulous specials and unique gifts for everyone on your list on the very next day.

A Vintage Thanksgiving!

image (17)

Now that we have the LTD 7 housekeeping out of the way, let’s talk turkey. Okay, not really “turkey,” but I wanted to share a sweet project that you can begin today and do all through the month. We are only one day late and we can make that day up if you start today.

Gratitude Lists: Make One Today

image (9)

Have everyone in your family start a sheet of things they are thankful for this month. Write down one thing every day. Keep them on the fridge with one of our strong bottle cap magnets. Leave a little room for cutting them out just before Thanksgiving. Don’t let anyone see what is being written. Fold them or store the sheets in envelopes.

On Thanksgiving Eve, cut them all out and place them in a bowl. Folded. As you sit around the table, have everyone take turns reading them aloud and sharing. See if your guests can name who wrote them. If you have people coming from out of town, have them fill out one or two or three papers too so they will be included.

I have done this before and it is a wonderful way to share our thankfulness. It reminds us of all the many blessings we have, big and small and it is a delightful way to share amongst our family and friends.

Walnuts, Anyone?

If you have plans to buy or shell walnuts this season, think about saving the ones you see that are slightly open on the top. You can have the kids spray paint them gold or green or whatever color matches your décor and make name cards for the table. While most of us don’t need place cards, it is a fun and inexpensive project. I have also seen walnuts spray painted and stacked into beautiful centerpieces, as pictured.

image (15)

Use What You Have

The nice thing about vintage and repurposing for the seasons is that we can “use what we have” in unique and unusual ways. Perhaps you want to use your blue and white china and want to find a way to make it look like a Thanksgiving table. The picture above does just that!

Maybe you have old metal buckets or vases that would decorate nicely with sprigs of yellow and orange marigolds or hold small pumpkin. Or perhaps you have some spare burlap that would make a table runner this season. Decorate a bit differently this season and watch your creativity soar. It always boosts my mood to do something a little different, even if it is adding leaves and string to my napkins.

image (18)

Changing things up doesn’t have to be expensive. Use what you have; then buy more if you need to.

On the Road Again

I will be on the road again late this week to pick up MORE great items for the store. I know I sound like a broken record sometimes, but I want to remind you of the many ways LTD 7 can meet your shopping needs as we approach the “season of busy.”

Please plan to make LTD 7 a frequent stop in your travels for the holidays. Don’t forget to check out our booth at the Antique Mall, too, if you are over that way. There is always something new and unique there, too and items are updated weekly.

Stay tuned to Facebook, Instagram and this Blog as the holidays get closer for fresh new ideas for gift-giving, gift baskets and those small, unique and treasured gifts we all need to purchase. Don’t forget to check out our Online Store and our Facebook sales each week as you can shop from the comfort of your home and we have some amazing sales and deals twice weekly. You can pick up many of the same items you see in the store and many new and first run items online. If you miss one of our sales, you can still buy, the next morning  Items in our Facebook sale are online for one week while supplies lasst.

LTD 7 strives, as always, to make your shopping as stress-free and as pleasant as possible and we are always here to serve you.

I am so very thankful for YOU! You are what makes my dream possible!

Living the Dream,
